hmmm…

see this videos at enga*get.com :D

nice ads, a real reflections of how expensive is the mac :p

is the mac that expensive? I hardly said is not :D why?

according to that ads, it shown a lot of laptop you can choose and buy, but is it that simple? just looking around the store, see the tech spec, choose the model, and check the price, then VOILA! You got your dream laptop :D a 17 inches display, 320GB hard drive, 4GB of RAM, bla2… at extra low price of only 699US$  and Mac? they only got 1 13,3″ laptop that still at 999US$ :D . Is it really simple? nope! not every customer or buyer know the spec :D a lot of feels like they stuck in the jungle-of-laptop :p

The Mac Portable itsefl now made from aluminum :D yeah You know it metal is much more expensive than plastic and tougher, sturdier, built for exists :D that is why Mac Portable is more expensive than before :D . But, hey a cheapest Mac Portable is made of plastic! well, this Macbook is sell for the low end market -which I pick it to compare it to the ads- here is the link about the cheapest macbook. Choosing Mac Portable is simple, pick the display size, the price and check the spec! just that, and totally only 8 Mac Portable configurations on sell now: 3 different config of 13 inch Macbook, 2 configs of 13 inch Macbook Air, 2 configs of 15 inch Macbook Pro, and 1 configs of 17 inch Macbook Pro. A real simple job :D

My next opinion is at tech spec and the OS. Mac Computer always include the MAC OS X -Leopard for now- and the iLife :D . all these software will cost -if You buy it separately- about 129US$ for the OS and 79 US$ for the iLife, total: about 200US$ :D .

Too bad, the ads not showing which HP PAVILLION spec that “Lauren” buy, so i do some research :p , then got this link.

Which one is 699 US$ 17 inch HP PAVILLION? too bad, none :p. So i pick the closest one, the DV7t series. starting at 799 US$ -maybe Lauren got a discounted price or watever :p -. Well, at least it is a HP PAVILLION :) . The spec:

  • Espresso Black
  • Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (32-bit)
  • Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual-Core Mobile Processor T4200 (2.0 GHz)
  • 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
  • 250GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
  • 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 4530
  • 17.3″ diagonal HD+ High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1600 x 900)
  • LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
  • Webcam Only
  • HP Color Matching Keyboard
  • 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
  • Microsoft(R) Works 9.0
The Macbook MB881LL/A:
MacBook: “Early 2009″ 2.0 13″
Processor: 2.0 GHz “Core 2 Duo” (P7350)
System Bus: 1066 MHz
Level 2 Cache: 3 MB
Standard RAM: 2 GB
Int. Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
Shared VRAM: 256 MB
Hard Drive: 120 GB
Optical Drive: 8X DL “SuperDrive”
Bluetooth: 2.1+EDR

IMHO, looks like Apple have to reconsider their price policy :D even they got a perfect product with a perfect software but the price is still too expensive for some buyer. Not every customer consider the hardware specifications, the durability, the OS, etc. A lot of customer consider the first thing: PRICE TAG. Is it acceptable to their budget or not. Even I am MACBOOK UNIBODY user, for me the price is still expensive, WHY Apple can’t cut down the price? the price gap is too big for now, at least at US not at Indonesia like me. Maybe Apple want to keep their MAC Computer a premium brand or premium Computer?

however, even the price is pricey , the Apple gives the buyer a lot of innovations, such as: unibody, multi gesture trackpad, made-of-glass trackpad, customer oriented notebook, well designed notebook, elses. I call it myself as PAY MORE, FOR MORE INNOVATION :D
